An authentic family-run oil mill
Our beautiful day-tour dedicated to the Tuscan culture starts at an authentic oil mill, the place where Tuscan farmers bring their olives during the harvests to squeeze and extract extra virgin olive oil. Our guide gives you an interesting and detailed introduction to the world of extra virgin olive oils, from the methods of cultivation of the trees to the techniques for extraction from the olives, before entering the mill to see the machinery and the technology used for production. The most meaningful part of the visit is when the guide shows you how to taste and identify a real and genuine extra virgin olive oil and how to differentiate it from commercial olive oils. The tasting is accompanied by a full lunch with local specialties.
The most beautiful Etruscan town
The tour continues to the ancient town of Volterra, a world famous location for its beautiful historical center. The town is resulting from 3 milleniums of civilization, from the Etruscans and the Romans through the medieval Municipalities and the Renaissance time. Our skilled and very prepared guide will give you interesting and fascinating information while crossing stunning squares, entering a sumptuous cathedral (ticket entrance to be paid onsite), visiting alabaster workshops or staring at the Roman or Etruscan ruins.

Anna Maria is one of the members of the official panel of olive oil testers of Tuscany for the district of Pisa. She runs one of the most renowned oil mills in the area of Volterra and she has a great personality. Her mission is to make products available in most supermarkets.

The destinations reached during this activity are in the Tuscan countryside, in areas off the beaten track that cannot be reached by public transport. We highly recommend renting a car or a scooter in order to reach them. As an alternative, we can offer a valued service by chauffeured car, van or minibus. Any cost of transportation is to be added to the rates displayed on the rate table of this page.
