The spectacular Volterra
Our guided tour starts in the morning with a guided visit to the most important Etruscan town in central Tuscany. Our skilled and prepared guide will give you an overall historical introduction of Volterra, whose foundation is Etruscan but whose look today is particularly fascinating thanks to its medieval and renaissance art. The guided walk starts from the west side of the town, from where in clear days the Tuscan coast and even Corsica are visible. The walk includes a visit to the outside of the cathedral (ticket entrance to be paid onsite) and the majestic Piazza dei Priori. A must in Volterra is a stop in an alabaster workshop, since the carving of this stone is one of the most typical expressions of the local craftsmen. You will also stare at Roman ruins, huge fortification walls and cute little lanes that give the town a lot of fascination.

An authentic organic cheese farm in the countryside
Our tour continues to one of the most panoramic family-run farms in the area surrounding Volterra. Our guide will give you a detailled introduction to the world of organic cheese making, from the fresh milk through the curdling, up to the aged wheels of pecorino cheese, during a very interesting visit to the dairy in the farm. You will then sit in the restaurant for a delicious lunch, an occasion for you to taste a lot of delicious kinds of cheese, from different sorts of pecorino, to ricotta, stracchino and cheese fondue served with a lot of other specialties produced by the farm.

This is an email we received on 13th March from Ray who visited Volterra and a cheese farm with Moira and Massimo.

Arianna, Consuelo,

Just wanted to say that we thoroughly enjoyed the tour yesterday. Massimo and Moira were great tour guides and I wish we had more time in the region to do more activities. When we get back to the U.S., we will definitely be leaving positive reviews on Trip Advisor and when we come back to the region, would surely like Massimo as a guide again. Once I download the pictures, will send you a picture we took with Massimo and Moira.
Thanks again.
Best,
Ray

This is a message sent to us by Mike after visiting the organic cheese farm of our tour and the stunning town Volterra afterwards:

Massimo – Thanks again for all your help during our stay in Tuscany.  The trip was fabulous and we appreciated your guidance throughout the visit.  We enjoyed the tour of the cheese farm, the lunch afterwards, and exploring Volterra.

Now, if only we could emulate the crostini with tomatoes, red onion, celery, etc. back here in the U.S!!  If not, I guess we’ll have to return to Italy soon.

-Mike
